Where Literature Matters
Sarita Dasgupta

Sarita Dasgupta is a writer, poet, and playwright. Before coming to the USA, Sarita lived in the Indian state of Assam, amidst vast green acres of tea bushes. There she developed a deep love for Nature and the many wild creatures she encountered, which is often reflected in her writings: In addition to Seeds of Fate, which describes the beauty of Assam’s tea plantations, Sarita’s Rainbow Reader series (English Literature/Language textbooks for Grades 1-4) contain original stories, poems, and essays that promote conservation and respect for animals, along with gender equality and preserving one’s cultural heritage. And her work Feathered Friends, a collection of fables for children, features birds as characters.
Seeds of Fate is the "One Book One County" choice for 2026 in Kittitas County, WA, and is being shown at the London Book Fair, 2026. Sarita has also been appointed the 2026-2028 Poet Laureate and Literary Ambassador for the City of Ellensburg, WA. Outpourings is her latest published collection of poetry.
