​Oya, Miwok Medicine Woman is Stephen Blue's debut novel. His previous experience includes writing countless behavioral observations/evaluations of both children and adults with severe mental health disabilities, while working for the institutions that supervised them. Parallel to his career in mental healthcare, Blue acted professionally in regional theatre for over 20 years. Together, the two pursuits gave Blue a keen sense for literature and character development.

 

Blue has since traveled extensively overseas. He currently owns a house in rural Philippines where he spends most of his time with his wife, Jenalyn, a Filipina American jewelry artist. ​
